RIOT - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install RIOT?

RIOT is deployed as a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) package (.sppkg) to your tenant App Catalog. A site collection administrator can then add the web parts to any SharePoint site. See the Deployment Guide for step-by-step instructions.

What permissions does RIOT require?

RIOT requires Mail.Send permission for Microsoft Graph to send notification emails. All data is stored in SharePoint lists within your tenant. No data is transmitted to external servers.

Can I customize the risk scoring scales?

Yes. The RIOT Admin panel allows you to configure probability and impact scales, categories, thresholds, and impact dimensions (Cost, Schedule, Performance) to match your organization's risk framework.

Which browsers are supported?

Our applications support the latest versions of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox on Windows 10/11.

Can I export formal reports from RIOT?

Yes. RIOT supports export to Word (.docx) and PDF formats. Click "Export Report" from any register's command bar or from the dashboard. You can select which sections to include: Executive Summary, Risk Register, Issue Register, Opportunity Register, Mitigation Status, and Heat Map Summary. Reports include a title page, KPI summary table, and formatted register tables.

Can I bulk import items from CSV?

Yes. Each register has an "Import CSV" button that opens a guided wizard. Upload your CSV file, map columns to RIOT fields (auto-detected by header names), review validation results with row-level error highlighting, and import in batch. The wizard validates required fields, category and status values, date formats, and person fields against your site users.

How do cross-register links work?

You can create bidirectional links between risks, issues, and opportunities from the Related Items section on any item's detail panel. Link types include Related, Caused By, Mitigated By, and Converted From. You can also promote a risk directly to an issue, which automatically creates the issue with pre-filled fields and a Converted From link back to the original risk. Links are stored in a separate SharePoint list (RIOLinks) that is provisioned from the Admin panel.

How do review cycles work?

RIOT supports structured periodic reviews with configurable cycle lengths. Set a global default review cycle (e.g., 30, 60, or 90 days) and optional per-category overrides from the Admin panel's Review Cycles tab. Each item shows a review status badge (green for current, yellow for upcoming, red for overdue). Use the "Review" button to record a review action (Reviewed, Updated, Escalated, or Deferred) with notes, or use "Batch Review" to walk through all overdue items sequentially.

How do comments and the activity feed work?

Every risk, issue, and opportunity has a Comments section on its detail panel. Add threaded comments, @mention colleagues to send email notifications, and mark comments as resolved. The dashboard includes an Activity Feed widget that shows recent comments across all three registers, giving you a consolidated view of team collaboration.

How do I uninstall RIOT?

Remove the web parts from your SharePoint pages, then retract the solution from your tenant App Catalog. Your data will remain in the SharePoint lists until you choose to delete them.

WBS Manager - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install WBS Manager?

WBS Manager is deployed as a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) package (.sppkg) to your tenant App Catalog. Add the WBS Manager and WBS Admin web parts to any SharePoint site. The Admin web part handles list provisioning on first use.

What permissions does WBS Manager require?

WBS Manager does not require any Microsoft Graph API permissions. It uses standard SharePoint permissions. Site Owners get admin access, Members get editor access, and Visitors get read-only access.

What are the MIL-STD-881F templates?

MIL-STD-881F is the U.S. Department of Defense standard for Work Breakdown Structures. WBS Manager includes templates for nine categories: Aircraft, Electronic/Automated Software, Missile, Ordnance, Sea, Space, Cyber, Ground Vehicle, and Unmanned Systems.

Can I export reports from WBS Manager?

Yes. WBS Manager supports export to Word (.docx) and PDF formats. You can select which sections to include: Executive Summary, WBS Structure, Resource Summary, Cost Summary, and Basis of Estimate details.

How do I uninstall WBS Manager?

Remove the web parts from your SharePoint pages, then retract the solution from your tenant App Catalog. Your WBS data will remain in the SharePoint lists until you choose to delete them.

Approver - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install Approver?

Approver is deployed as a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) package (.sppkg) to your tenant App Catalog. Add the Approver and Approver Admin web parts to any SharePoint site. The Admin web part handles list provisioning on first use.

What permissions does Approver require?

Approver requires Mail.Send permission for Microsoft Graph to send notification emails to approvers and submitters. All data is stored in SharePoint lists within your tenant. No data is transmitted to external servers.

What are approval templates?

Templates define the structure of an approval workflow. Admins configure the workflow steps (sequential or parallel), custom form fields that submitters fill out, and optional document upload slots. Templates are reusable and can be activated or deactivated as needed.

Can I create custom fields on templates?

Yes. The template editor allows you to add custom fields of various types including text, multiline text, number, date, and choice (dropdown). Each field can be marked as required or optional. Submitters will see these fields when creating a new approval request.

How do sequential and parallel approvals work?

Sequential steps require each approver to act in order before the next step begins. Parallel steps allow multiple approvers to review simultaneously. You can mix both types within a single template to match your organization's workflow.

How do I uninstall Approver?

Remove the web parts from your SharePoint pages, then retract the solution from your tenant App Catalog. Your approval data will remain in the SharePoint lists until you choose to delete them.

Req Man - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install Req Man?

Req Man is deployed as a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) package (.sppkg) to your tenant App Catalog. Add the Requirements Explorer, Requirements Admin, and Requirements Dashboard web parts to any SharePoint site. The Admin web part handles list provisioning on first use.

What permissions does Req Man require?

Req Man requires Mail.Send permission for Microsoft Graph to send notification emails for change requests, reviews, and assignments. All data is stored in SharePoint lists within your tenant. No data is transmitted to external servers.

What are requirement modules?

Modules are top-level containers that organize your requirements into logical groups (e.g., System Requirements, Software Requirements, Interface Requirements). Each module can have its own custom attributes, and requirements within a module are organized in a hierarchical tree structure.

How does traceability work?

Req Man supports typed traceability links between requirements, both within the same module and across different modules. The system includes suspect detection — when a traced requirement changes, linked requirements are automatically flagged for review to ensure consistency.

Can I baseline and compare requirements?

Yes. You can create baselines to snapshot the current state of a module's requirements at a point in time. The baseline diff feature lets you compare any two baselines to see what changed — additions, deletions, and modifications — between versions.

How do I uninstall Req Man?

Remove the web parts from your SharePoint pages, then retract the solution from your tenant App Catalog. Your requirements data will remain in the SharePoint lists until you choose to delete them.
